Adjustment of the mechanical system of the co2 cutter to guarantee a perfectly round circle cut
When you are cutting circles on a laser machine and your circles are not coming out perfectly round, it is commonly caused because there is some backlash developing on the machine. Backlash is a clearance or lost motion in a mechanism caused by gaps between the parts.
The following image shows the cutting error generated by a backlash, the circles are not perfectly cut.
This failure is caused by one of the axle nuts not being tight, therefore, the status must be verified after many, many hours of use or if your machine is not properly maintained and lubricated, then this backlash can develop.
If the mechanical components are loose, that is, they are not properly adjusted and generate unwanted movements in the movement system, it will cause asymmetrical cuts.
To solve these types of problems, it is necessary to adjust all the components such as rails, endless screws and the entire mechanical system that allows movement in the Y and X axis.
